Leadership Information

Wake and Shake

Primary pupils in various schools are leading wake and shake exercises for their class. At the end of September, we are interviewing for an 'Activity Plus co-ordinator'. Part of their job will be to manage the Wake up and Shake up scheme across the partnership. Each school will be offered the time and support of the activity plus co-ordinator in order to set the scheme up in their school.

Active Play

KS2 pupils have taken on roles in leading games and activities as well as organizing equipment during playtimes.Level 1 & 2 Sports Leadership

Many Secondary schools are offering their pupils the opportunity to follow a level 1 and 2 leadership course. These pupils then gain real life experience by assisting with clubs and festivals in their own school and family of primary schools.

Club Links/Sports Council

Other roles of responsibility available in schools are to be a member of the school sports council, a sports captain, a representative for a local sports club.

Young Ambassadors

The partnership appoints up to four secondary pupils each year to act as Young Ambassadors. Their role is to uphold and represent the ethos of the Olympic movement - respect friendship and excellence.

Community Volunteers

Up to 20 pupils across the partnership have been chosen as representatives to attend the annual community volunteering conference, held at Pfizer social club on 17th March.

TOP Up Swimming

A government intervention programme to assist those pupils at Key Stage 2, who have not met the 25 metre national curriculum swimming requirement. From schools that have taken part so far the pupils achieved a 92% success rate. The SSCo for DGGS family, Jo Knee, will be managing the scheme, and all schools should have received information relating to how it will roll out for the 2008/9 academic year.
