Welcome

The Dover District Partnership is now in its 4th year, and is looking forward to another exciting year.

The annual Sports Awards Evening on 9th September proved to be another memorable event and a perfect way to start off the academic year by celebrating the success of 2008/2009.

We have our usual array of festivals and competitions this 2009/2010, including Tag Rugby, Netball, Girls Football, Bball, Speed Stacking, Kwik Cricket, Year 3 and 4 Athletics, Sportshall Athletics, Multi-Skills and Swimming, amongst others. Due to popular demand, we are also extending our virtual speed stacking league and Gladiator festivals, and introducing a new ‘Aqua Splash’ festival.

This year we area expanding our School Sport Coaching Programme, and there will be a range of free coaching opportunities for all year groups, ranging from Netball, Sportshall Athletics and Rowing Clubs to Cycling and Gymnastics clubs.

June 2010 sees the second Kent School Games and we hope to yet again enter a Dover team in every event.

Also in July 2010, 14 of the Young Sports Leaders and 4 SSCo’s will be heading to Zambia to take part in a Tag Rugby Development Project. The Young Leaders will be coaching young primary school children culminating in a tournament.

We have a range of teachers and young leaders courses planned for this academic year, and are starting a ‘Leadership Academy’ for about 40 young people across all secondary schools.

The government target of 40% of young people taking part in 5 hours of PE and Sport per week by 2010/2011 will prove to be a challenge, but one I think we are ready for.

I hope you are looking forward to the year ahead with as much optimism as we are. With such a great team and wonderful support from all our schools, it will at least be full of fun for all our pupils.
